Ways I Can Help
My approach to psychotherapy is compassionate, collaborative and non-pathologising. Rather than viewing difficult emotions, behaviours or relational patterns as problems to be solved, I encourage curiosity about how and why these experiences developed, and the stories and beliefs about ourselves that may have formed alongside them.
Often, the patterns that create difficulty for us in the present began as ways of protecting ourselves in response to vulnerabilities or experiences throughout our lives. By understanding these patterns in the context in which they developed, we can begin to relate to ourselves and others with greater curiosity and compassion, rather than self-criticism and judgement.
The therapeutic modalities I use include Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, somatic and polyvagal-informed approaches, and Compassion-Focused Therapy. My work is informed by an understanding of trauma, attachment theory, and the ways our nervous system can shape how we experience and respond to ourselves, others, and the world around us.
Therapy is available online across Australia via telehealth. If you are based in the Northern Rivers, please contact me to discuss the availability of in-person appointments.
Trauma & Relational Trauma
When the past continues to shape how you feel in the present
Trauma isn't always the result of one identifiable event. It can also develop through repeated experiences of feeling unsafe, unseen, rejected, overwhelmed or alone — particularly within important relationships. Therapy can provide a space to gently understand the ways our minds and bodies learned to protect us, while developing a greater sense of felt safety from which difficult experiences can begin to be processed.
IFS Therapy
A compassionate, non-pathologising approach to understanding the mind
Sometimes it can feel as though different parts of us want completely different things. One part longs for connection while another wants to withdraw. One part knows you're capable while another is deeply critical. IFS offers a compassionate way of understanding these internal experiences — not as evidence that something is wrong with you, but as parts of you that have developed for a reason.
EMDR Therapy
When you know something is over, but part of you still responds as though it isn't
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that supports the processing of distressing or traumatic experiences that continue to affect us in the present. By helping the brain process memories that may remain emotionally charged or unresolved, EMDR can reduce the distress associated with these experiences and the impact they continue to have on our thoughts, emotions and responses.
ADHD & Neurodivergence
Therapy that begins with understanding, rather than trying harder
Navigating ADHD and neurodivergence looks different for everyone. I offer a neuro-affirming, non-pathologising approach that supports you to understand your unique nervous system and develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
